Expand your artistic process -  non-conventional approaches to painting.

Create rich depth and texture with layers of mark-making.

In this workshop, you will discover hundreds of ways to apply and manipulate media.  We will explore the use of kitchen implements and other common objects to apply, transform, and remove paint!

Suitable for beginners, intermediate level, as well as established artists looking to expand their techniques and processes. We will use acrylic paints and other water-soluble media, but the techniques are definitely applicable to oil painting as well.

Notes On What To Bring:

The instructor will provide all necessary materials.  A $10 materials fee will be added to the registration fee.  Optional: attendees may wish to bring a sketchbook, pen, pencil, and eraser, and any of their own water-soluble materials.

About the Instructor:

Brandi Jacques is an award-winning artist and educator with over 35 years of teaching experience. She holds a PhD in Music Education from the University of Toronto and has spent her career inspiring students through both the performing and visual arts.

A member of the Associated Artists of Winston-Salem, Brandi has exhibited at venues including the Milton Rhodes Gallery, the Benton Convention Center, the Robert Elberson Fine Arts Center, and the Masonic Center. Her work is currently on display in Footnote Café and Bernardin's Fine Dining.

Equally at home in abstraction and realism, Brandi often blends the two to capture fleeting moments in nature, the play of light and shadow, and the mysterious textures of time—ancient parchments, asemic writing, and surreal landscapes. Her teaching reflects the same spirit of exploration and freedom, encouraging students to discover their own creative voices through the energy and expressiveness of mark-making.
