Happy July, All! Here's what we have in this month's newsletter:

A Note from Susan Powers, the Outgoing President of the AAWS Board of Directors:

Greetings!

We’re hosting a 'town hall' meeting on July 10th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Masonic Center on Country Club Road. I warmly encourage you to join us!

This is a collaborative brainstorming session focused on exploring possibilities and solutions as we develop a strategic plan for the future of our organization.

We are a community of creatives who collectively hold a wealth of knowledge and life experiences—all of which may prove invaluable in shaping a thoughtful and effective plan of action.

So, put on your thinking caps and join me to discuss how we can move forward in the years to come!

Creatively,

RSVP to the Brainstorming Meet-Up!

Call for Art Deadline: TOMORROW!

Only a couple of spots left for the "Altered Perspectives" exhibit! The next show at Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts, we're excited to see how you bring your art to life through depth, dimension, and perspective!

Perspective is a cornerstone of art, but it can be "ALTERED" to make it more fun. Show us what you got!

The "History of Us" Exhibit on Display at the Central Library!

DID YOU KNOW: AAWS was started in 1956? That's almost 70 Years of history! In order to maintain our legacy, we recently completed an archival project in coordination with the NC Collection Room at The Forsyth County Central Library.

In celebration of our archives, we created the "History of Us" digital timeline highlighting exciting parts of our past and present. The Central Library has used the timeline for an exhibition in the NC Collection Room! Featuring AAWS art, pages from the timeline, and supporting resources including historic pictures, brochures, and posters, this exhibit is on display through July 31st!

We will have a small "field trip" to visit the exhibition on Thursday, July 24th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at the library. Come stop by and celebrate the completion of our AAWS archives and the exhibition!

More information & details on this exciting project soon!!

Thank You for Attending the Annual Members Celebration!

At the Annual Members Celebration this past June, we celebrated AAWS's hard work for the 2024-25 fiscal year. We also voted four new Board Members into office including Sandra Kimzey Wimbish, Danielle Trinkle Hoover, Sean Kammerlohr, and Michelle Schenker.

In addition, Past President Margaret Webster-Shapiro was awarded a Lifetime Membership for her work as the President of AAWS following the near shutdown and her endless work on the AAWS Archives.

Congratulations and many thanks are in order for Margaret, Sandra, Danielle, Michelle, and Sean for their dedication to the arts! AND, thank you to all our Members and larger community who attended the Celebration. It was a blast!

 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT BLOG

This month's spotlight is shining on new AAWS Member Holly Chandler! One of AAWS's only woodworkers, I visited her workshop and learned more about: her eco-friendly mosaics, what it means to be a woman woodworker, and more!
